Buttermilk Oatmeal Bread for Bread Machine

1- 1/4 cups buttermilk (1- 1/4 cups milk + 1 Tbsp lemon juice, let sit for a few minutes)
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp butter
2 - 3/4 cups bread flour (or all purpose flour works ok too)
3/4 cup toasted rolled oats (put oats in shallow baking pan; bake @ 350 for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned; cool)
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp active dry yeast or bread machine yeast

Add ingredients to machine in this order. Makes 1.5 lb loaf. Do not overcook! Lightly butter the crust as soon as it is done.

(I recently tried this by hand, using 3/4 cups whole wheat flour and 2 cups all purpose flour, kneading for 10 minutes and baking at 350 for about 25-30 minutes. Makes 1 loaf. It was delicious!)

This is so good to have ready when we come home from church!
