Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. brown sugar
1 T vanilla
2 eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
12-24 oz semisweet chocolate chips (depending on your taste)
2 c. nuts (I leave out)

Preheat oven to 375. Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add vanilla and mix. Then add eggs one at a time while still mixing. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Dough will be stiff. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Spread them out on the cookie sheet so they have room to cook. Flatten slightly with a fork, just a little bit. Bake 13-15 minutes until light brown. Centers will be soft. (I have also made smaller versions of this cookie by measuring out 1/4 cup and then dividing the 1/4 cup of dough in half to form two smaller balls.)

Finally a chocolate chip cookie recipe that will find a permanent place in my recipe binder. I have made so many different chocolate chip cookie recipes and I have tried so many "secrets" for a perfect cookie. This one takes them all without doing anything special! It's all in the recipe. I mix the dough by hand with a wooden spoon. They turn out perfectly every single time. No FAIL!
