This recipe is my neighbor Tina's from her website, marriedtoamexican.com. Calvin loves carne asada tacos and I've been too scared to try them. This recipe is soooo easy! Put fewer pickled jalepenos on if you want it less spicy (the boys wanted theirs plain) and make sure to add enough garlic powder. 2lbs was PLENTY of meat for lots of leftovers at our house. Next time I'll marinade the whole batch and cook half, then freeze the other half in the marinade for later. Mmmm. Super tasty and easy! Also, because the steak is thinly sliced, it really didn't cost that much more than ground beef, considering how much it makes. Go to Tina's website if you want to see the video with instructions. Enjoy!
Ingredients.
2lbs Thinly sliced Top Sirloin Steak
1 can La Costena sliced pickled jalepenos
salt
garlic powder
pepper
Oil to brush on grill grates
20 white corn tortillas
Open can of sliced pickeled jalepenos and spoon over steak. Roll up and let marinade for an hour. Pour juice over meat too. Before grilling, unroll and take off jalepenos. Sprinkle generously with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Grill on med for 5 min on 1 side, 2-3 on other side. Slice. Put corn tortillas on grill to heat.
TOP WITH
Chopped white onion
Cilantro
lime wedge
favorite salsa
Jay and I tried this recently and loved it! We accidentally cut the steak first, then marinated it and grilled it. We lost a few pieces to the fire, but it had awesome flavor. I do not like spicy things and this was just right for me. I'd say it felt like a mild/medium salsa. Jay loved this recipe because he loves beef and spice! He even sauteed the jalepenos and put them in his tortilla. He says that's what real men do. Haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe, Beth!
